Get Well Pappy!

Last night as I was getting ready for bed, Austin and Camden were dozing in the recliner. The phone rang which is a bit unusual. We don't receive too many phone calls on our LAN line (it is mostly my folks who call). I knew my dad was going to the Antique Show yesterday evening and my mom had went to a North Daviess football game at Eastern with Angie and Marsha (some family friends of ours). Austin was closest to the phone and he answered it. While he was on the phone, he said "Okay, I'll be there in a minute." Immediately, Austin jumped out of the chair, handed Camden over to me and said "your Dad has fell over a gate in the pasture, I've got to go." As left rather quickly and I attempted to get a hold of my mom - after a few tries I had success. Austin had called me when he arrived at my folks to explain what had happened and provide an update. Dad was going to give one of the sheep a shot, so we climbed on the wooden fence. Before he got his leg over, his foot slipped and he fell on the fence. My dad was okay, but was quite sure that he'd cracked some ribs. While this may seem a bit minor, Dad has been recovering from 2 back surgeries in the last year. Dad has been back to work for almost 6 months now, and will most likely be out of work some more. With mom being a nurse, she is very reluctant to run to the Dr. or the hospital for anything, so we are still waiting to determine how much damage occurred in the fall. Dad has a follow-up appt. with his back surgeon in Evansville on Tuesday, so I guess we'll see then what happens. We stopped by mom and dad's this morning so Austin could feed the sheep and dad was hurting pretty badly. It took at least 15 minutes for him to get up out of the recliner to get to the bathroom. This may be another long recover so please keep him, and my mom, in your prayers.

Everyone is always giving my dad a rough time (including me) that he carries his cell phone around all the time. It is his lifeline. But after the fall yesterday, we were certainly glad dad always has his cell phone or we aren't sure how he would have gotten any help as he wasn't able to walk to the house to call for help.

Mom has been watching Camden since our sitter, "Grandma Sandy", is on vacation. I think Mom will have her hands full next week. And Dad, you won't have to call in sick to work next week after all to get to spend a day or two with Camden!

Get better fast Pappy - I'll be mobile before you know it! Love, Camden
