September Update

You got to ride in the tractor catching corn from the combine. This harvest season, Camden, you are very much aware of what is going on in the fields around us and know, by name, all the various kinds of harvesting equipment.

The outside of the house has changed again and we now have columns and steps.

Here you are braving the big slide at our church picnic. At first, you were a bit scared to try out the big slide, but finally you gave it a try. And, from the expression on your face, you are enjoying yourself.

And, the highlight of the month was definitely the "teak show" also known as the Antique Show. You got to visit twice - once with Aunt Debbie and once with Mommy and Daddy. Your favorite two places - the petting barn and of course the Ertl building. You even scored a special gift in the Ertl building. And to this day, you will tell us that you want to "play with my "teak show tractor."

This is the tamest calf I've ever seen and this sweet baby loved to lick our fingers. boy does she have a very soft tongue!

Check back soon - we'll share our October Fun soon - then this blog with be current again. Slowly but surely, I'm catching up once again!

August Update

As I glance back through the memories I captured behind my camera lens this past August, here are a few moments that I want to remember:

Some days I feel as if the building project is taking forever and a day. And other times, I am amazed at how quickly things are changing. It is hardly believable that in nearly three months, we will be moving (Lord willing). It will be a bittersweet milestone.

For over six years, we've packed and stored several tool boxes full of little Ertl die cast trucks, tractors, and other construction machinery equipment. I'm not exactly sure how many times I've asked Austin, "Are you sure you want to keep all these as you don't ever get them out and they are always in the way occupying valuable shelf space." His reply has always been the same, "No I don't want to get rid of them. I want to keep them in case I have a boy one day. He will love these tractors." Indeed, we have a son who is very much into tractors, trucks, and other construction equipment. One evening, Austin finally brought in one of his heavy tool boxes. Immediately after the tool box was opened, I knew we should have waited and wrapped the tool box up for Camden as a Christmas gift as his face and reaction was totally priceless. It was as if he was gifted with the only toys he had ever desired. Several evenings after opening the tool box for the first time, we played tractors. He still requests to "get Daddy's tractors out of the garage." And, my oh my, do these ever hurt when you step on them - ouch!

Each year immediately before the school starts, our community hosts a Back to School Bash with lots of food, fun games, and prizes for children of all ages. Camden loves the "Back to Cool Bash." This yummy cotton candy - Camden didn't care for it. My son is not normal, who doesn't like pure sugar?

I love, love, love this photo - it is the face of pure joy. Camden was releasing balloons into the sky as I took this picture. Did I menion how much I love his smile? A lot!

My imaginative creativity is bit less than I would like it to be. I hope Camden always bundles up his creativity and imaginative play as I love to witnessing his imaginative play. If you look closely, you can see his animals are sleeping - that is what he tell us.

July Update

This summer we made many trips past the City pool in Washington and Camden had gotten to where he would request to "go there." Finally, we made it there this summer. He did enjoy the water, but I had to coax him down the little alligator slide. We invited Cam's friend Grady and his Mommy - the joined in on the fun.

We enjoyed the fireworks show at Bogg's this year with a Subway picnic, but on the 4th of July, Camden was tuckered out from swimming most of the day. He missed the "do-it-yourself" fireworks, so Uncle Jerry was kind enough to save a few sparklers just for Camden. They were a hit! I don't know what it is about boys but playing with fire and lighting fireworks is a big deal. Coming from a small family of girls only, fireworks were just not that big of a deal. Austin assures me that they are a big deal - so this year was just the beginning.

Cam had a little fall (off cousin Craig's back while they were playing horsey). After a few hours of Camden crying and not using his arm, we decided to investigate further. After a couple trips to Jasper, we confirmed that there were no broken bones. He was a good sport and allowed the doctors to do what they needed to do.

The house is coming along even though we had a little set back. Our builder fell from a ladder and had a few complications - a minor head injury and a several broken ribs. Thankfully he is back to normal and doing well.

Camden and Grady have gotten to spend lots of time together lately. It won't be too long until Grady and Camden are neighbors.

We took a trip to Holiday World aka "Herday Word" as Camden calls it. He was very anxious to ride the seahorses, but once he got and they got going - he cried, and cried, and cried. Same thing on the carousel. We've determined that rides that go round and round aren't for Camden. Cam is 36 inches so he was able to enjoy the Raging Rapid (this was his favorite and we rode several times), the Watubee water slide, and several other big kid rides.

Stay tuned for the August update - hopefully it will be in a few days instead of six weeks.
