John Deere Operator

My husband, Camden's daddy, will jump at any opportunity to operate any type of green John Deere equipment. The last few days, Austin has spent lots of time outside "clearing snow" with his lawn mower and snow blade. Do you think Camden is following in his footsteps.

Snow Day

Today we woke up at about 5:30 a.m. (our normal wake-up time). Austin called the VU hotline and discovered that he had an extra day off work, so today Daddy is home with us on a Snow Day. While Camden was still in his jammies, we decided to bundle him up in a onesie, jammies, sweatsuit, coat, hat, and mittens. We then smothered Vaseline over his face and took him outside to sled (this was his Daddy's idea). I'm not sure who was having the most fun, Daddy, Camden, or neighbor Max.

First, Camden has learned to crawl on his hands and knees backwards and has mastered the Army crawl to go forward. Lookout, he is everywhere - even the places he shouldn't be. Lately, I've had much more help doing things - even more help than I need.

Lastly, it was Saturday afternoon and Austin had went outside. I had just changed Camden's diaper (it was a stinky, dirty one). I was sitting on the floor next to Camden journaling in a photo album. I began to smell the dirty diaper. I thought maybe the diaper was a little too close to the heat register so I put the pen and photo album down and got off the floor. As I stood up, I saw Camden swinging his diaper around in the air (it was a wet diaper with no poopy inside). As I started to look for the dirty diaper I saw two poopies (one in his basketball goal and the other on the carpet). Guess who did that?

Too Cold For Comfort.....

Last fall when Austin started planning his trip to Indy for the annual ISPLS Convention (a conference for surveyors) I knew I would dread the month of January. It wasn't until after Austin was out of school for the fall semester did we come up with the idea of Camden and I traveling along to the ISPLS Convention. Austin assured me that other women would be present and that we could hang out in the hotel, go shopping, and spend the evening with him at his social events. I'm not certain of whether Austin wanted Camden and I to go along because he thought we'd have a good time or if he just didn't want to leave Camden for 3 days and 2 nights (honestly, I think it was the latter of the two). I decided that Camden and I would tag along and that we would attempt to meet up with some old friends from Indy.

Last week was the ISPLS Convention, and Camden and I did tag along. We met up with some DFAS co-workers on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, we met Baby Aiden for the very first time. Aiden is the son of my previous boss. Aiden's mommy, Carrie, had an appt. on Thursday AM, so Camden and I eagerly offered to watch Baby Aiden. He did great for about 3 hours - then he wanted his Mommy for a feed. Camden did great too at sharing his Mommy. Lexus, the furry friend, was also happy to have company while here Mommy was out and about. On Friday, the last day of the conference, Camden and I headed to the Castleton Mall in the blistering cold to have lunch with our DFAS friends at TGI Friday's (thank you Elizabeth, Carrie, Aiden, and Amanda) for meeting us at the mall. After lunch, Camden and I shopped a bit and headed back to the hotel to pick up Daddy. At last we began our trip back to our precious home. Oh how we missed our warm home! We had a great time seeing old friends, but it was a tough job keeping warm. I think next year, Camden and I will stay home with Shadow and miss Daddy!

Do not kiss me Lexus!
Okay, we'll be friends!

This weekend has come and gone quickly, but we are thankful that it was a quiet and calm weekend. Our highlight was a visit from the James family. Oh how we love the James family. We don't know the James family well (mostly by name), but what we do know is that the James family has a little boy who is about to turn 2 years old at the same time Camden turns 1 year old. The little James boy has the cutest clothes and we are the proud recipients of his wardrobe. For the remainder of the winter season and into the summer season, Camden will be sporting the wardrobe of the little James boy!

Tomorrow is Tuesday and Austin heads back to work. Since today was a holiday at SAIC, I will be heading to the office tomorrow. Getting back into our routine will be tough, but I think we are ready!

I'll leave with a photo of Camden having fun with Jello boxes as we were making Jello Jigglers for the kids at church.

Jello Anyone?
