We moved to our first home in Noblesville in a small subdivision. We knew our neighbors faces, not their names. They weren't overly fond of us, and to be honest, the feeling was quite mutual.
We moved to our current home. We knew our neighbors prior to moving here. We didn't know them well, but we knew them. We now know them well. They are wonderful people. They are the neighbors who bring you goodies (cookies, cake, etc.) quite often. They help you with your gardening chores. They feed your animals when you are out of town. They care for your son when you can't seem to find anyone else. They spoil your son with fun toys and tractors. They give free Gator rides. They help you with the hard to do chores - like moving big equipment - that I am not able to help Austin with. They sew/mend your clothes when you get a rip. They call every now and then just to chat. They call to make sure everything is going okay. You see, they are not just neighbors, but friends.
Tonight, we enjoyed an nice evening with our neighbor friends. Too soon, we will miss these spring evenings where we gather to eat dinner and visit. The great news is - when we move - they'll only be 5 miles away....... We will miss the hop, skip, and jump that it takes to get to their house. Now, we load the wagon and go.
